Station De Oost (The Eastern Station)
![]() "Come on gang, let’s go for a ride on the steam train.” It’s wonderful when you are tired from all that walking to sit back and recharge your batteries whilst looking out over the Efteling. You can pick your next attraction and watch the whole of the park fly by as the train chugs along the track. There are stations in the adventure realm ´Ruigrijk´ and in the fairy realm ´Marerijk´.
The Efteling Steam Train Company was founded in 1968. The Efteling has three working steam trains. Moortje is the oldest of the three. She was built in 1908. Her 'sister' Aagje an Orenstein & Koppel train dates from 1911, and in 1914 they were joined by a new family member, Neefje. Trijntje is 3.90 metres long and 1.53 metres wide, weighs approx. 7,000 kilos and is 'Anton-Pieck red’. She received a warm welcome from the Efteling Steam Train Company family in 1992. In the meantime, Neefje has been put to rest at the station on Ton Van De Ven square (near Dream Flight ‘Droomvlucht’). Children can still climb aboard, but he has well and truly run out of steam. The Eastern station was built in 2009. The train goes from the Eastern station in Ruigrijk to the Southern station in Marerijk |
