This year, the Efteling is true 'Fairytale Treasure Trove'. The emperor from the The Chinese nightingale gets his own palace, whilst the inn from the fairy story Table be laid, clubs to the ready and donkey lift your tail, is built. Snow White’s castle is also added to the Fairytale Forest and the steam train chugs past a new station.
This year, the park is divided into four realms: The fairy realm, Marerijk; the travel realm, Reizenrijk; the adventure realm, Ruigrijk; and the alternative realm, Anderrijk. The Winter Efteling is also introduced for the first time. |

The Vogel Rok indoor roller coaster is opened and Tom Thumb, the giant and Rumpelstiltskin join the inhabitants of the Fairytale Forest. A brand new Fairytale Show is launched in the Efteling Theatre and again this year, the Seven League Summer has extended opening hours until 9 pm.

The Efteling celebrates its 45th anniversary under the motto 'The Treat of the Year!' In addition to special monthly treats, visitors are treated to extra long opening hours and lots of live entertainment, such as the Fairytale Show, Samson & Gert and the Fun Vermeer Family Dinner Party. The park welcomes its 65 millionth visitor.

The House of the Five Senses opens its doors and a spectacular new entrance to the Efteling is built as well as the Villa Volta haunted house. The Efteling Theatre presents its own magical production of the Fairytale Show, and Samson & Gert perform in the Fairytale Tree Theatre.
For the first time in the history of the Efteling, the Seven League Summer takes place in July and August. The park is open from 10 a.m. till 10 p.m, and the 60 millionth visitor is given a festive welcome. |

This year marks the official opening of the eighteen-hole course and the distinctive Clubhouse at the Efteling Golf Park; the Kleuterhof children’s playground and the Avonturen Doolhof maze are introduced for the youngest of the visitors; and Samson & Gert return for the Summer Theatre season.
The centenary of Anton Pieck’s birth results in the first Efteling Anton Pieck Prize: a fairytale contest for primary schools in the Netherlands and Dutch-speaking parts of Belgium. |

Pegasus, a wooden roller coaster with nostalgic character, matches the 1991 theme almost perfectly! The Fifties. In the July and August of this year, the Big Efteling Summer Circus will provide an addition attraction. This year, the Efteling will welcome its 50 millionth visitor since 1952.

After having wandered underground for millions of years, the Laaf People decide to settle above ground in the Efteling. They build their own village which visitors can pass through on the monorail. A lot of effort is put into this year’s theme: Russia.
