StoryOnce upon a time, long ago, there was a king and queen with a little girl, a princess who they loved beyond compare.
Since the day she was born, her mother would say: “My dearest babe, my little princess, you know you’ll always be mine.” The queen told her daughter this so often, that one day, her daughter replied: “My dearest mummy, my queen so fair, you know I’ll always be yours.” Then one day when the king returned home with a parrot for his daughter: “It’s a talking parrot,” he told his daughter, but however hard they tried, the parrot would not talk. Instead, the princess started to repeat everything anyone said! Her parents became so desperate that they called for the doctor. “Doctor, doctor, our daughter thinks it is fun to mimic everything we say. She can’t seem to stop.” But there was nothing the doctor could do. He told the princess to go for a long walk in the woods to think about it. In the woods, the princess ran into a little old lady. “Hello there little girl,” the lady said. “Hello there little girl”, repeated the princess: she just could not stop herself from mimicking the little old lady; she even copied the old lady’s stoop when she walked. “Aren’t you a naughty little girl? Anyone would think you were a parrot!” said the little old lady. Then waving her stick, she cast a spell and Flash! The princess turned into a parrot. The old lady was in fact a witch, and she sent the little girl back to the palace where everybody was looking for her. Yet nobody recognised her with wings and a beak. Perhaps she will be able to talk her way out of it....... |
